LIVERPOOL'S FALLEN HEROES

OBITUARIES, PHOTOGRAPHS, MEDALS, PROMOTIONS AND BIOGRAPHICAL ITEMS FOR  WWI SERVICE PEOPLE EXTRACTED FROM LIVERPOOL NEWSPAPERS (1914-1919)

Unless otherwise stated in the 'TYPE OF ITEM' column every entry in this index refers to a photograph of a service person that appeared in one of the newspapers listed below. If you wish to obtain a copy of any item listed in this index printed copies of the indexes for the 'Liverpool Echo' and the 'Evening Express' - both of which give the exact dates of the articles - can be seen at Liverpool Record Office. If you are unable to visit the Record Office then you can obtain a copy via this website by filling in the ENQUIRY FORM and we will get back in touch with you as soon as possible. There will be a charge to cover expenses but this will not exceed £5 (GBP) per service man. There may be multiple entries for some of the men: perhaps because their photo appeared in more than one newspaper, or there may be a report that they are missing and then later confirmed dead. The £5 (GBP) maximum will cover all relevant entries.
If you are not sure that the entry in the index refers to the person you are interested in - perhaps because only an initial of the first name is given in the index - then please still enquire and the original entry can be checked to ensure that you don't end up purchasing the 'wrong' photograph.

Please be aware that as the photographs are taken from newspapers they will not be top quality. Examples of the image quality you can expect will be added to the site in the near future.
