Commonwealth War Graves Debt Of Honour
  The "Debt of Honour Register" is the Commission's database listing the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died during the two world wars and the 23,000 cemeteries, memorials and other locations worldwide where they are commemorated. The register can also be searched for details of the 67,000 Commonwealth civilians who died as a result of enemy action in the Second World War.

  You can search and download over 5.5 million World War One medal index cards at £2.00 each
     
The National Archives - WWI War Diaries
  The National Archives has been digitising selected War Diaries from the First World War. They contain daily reports on operations, intelligence summaries and other pertinent material.
     
Ancestry - WWI Service Records 1914-1920
  This database has been produced in partnership with the National Archives contains the surviving service records (only 40% of these records survived WWII) of non-commissioned officers and other ranks who served in WWI and did not re-enlist in the Army prior to World War II. With the latest release, this database now contains records for surnames beginning A-N. The type of information contained in these records includes: name of solider, age, birthplace, occupation, marital status, and regiment number. There is a subscription charge to use Ancestry but free trails are available for new users and it can be accessed for free at many public libraries.
     
The London Gazette
  The London is the Official Newspaper of Record for the United Kingdom. The issues for the years 1914-1920 can be searched on-line for awards for gallantry.
     
Museum of Liverpool
  These pages tell you how to research a past member of the King's Regiment. Included is a list of records available at the Merseyside Maritime Museum.
     
The Liverpool Scottish Museum Trust
  This rich collection of regimental artefacts that offers a comprehensive representation of the life of a Territorial infantry battalion over the last hundred years is currently in store pending re- location. The regimental museum is therefore closed but access to extensive archive material is available at New Zealand House in Liverpool through the contacts shown to the right. The archives include diaries, scrapbooks and records of a significant number of soldiers who have served with the regiment together with a database of soldiers who served and also of all Merseyside War Memorials.

  An information sheet which tells you how to research a past member of The King’s Regiment. At the end is a link to records available at the Merseyside Maritime Museum. The information below applies to all soldiers, whatever their Regiment or Corps.
     
     

  

   
  UK National Inventory of War Memorials

  The War Graves Photographic Project
    Now working as a joint venture with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, this will enable families, scholars and researchers to obtain, via the CWGC or TWGPP websites, a copy of the photograph of a grave or memorial which for many is impossible to visit due to the location.
